Terms & Conditions

Effective: August 2026

These terms govern your use of Paperly, a set of free PDF tools that run entirely in your web browser. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What Paperly is

Paperly provides browser-based PDF utilities: convert, merge, split, compress, protect, redact, extract and analyze PDFs. Processing happens on your device using JavaScript — files are not uploaded to a server.

You do not need an account, and the tools are free to use. We do not sell access to your documents because we never receive them.

2. Acceptable use

You may use Paperly for lawful purposes only. You are responsible for the documents you process and for how you use the results.

  • Do not use the tools to process documents you are not authorized to process.
  • Do not attempt to interfere with the site, its infrastructure or other users.
  • Do not scrape, resell or repurpose the site or its content without permission.
  • Do not upload or process malware or malicious content.

3. Your files stay on your device

All PDF processing is performed client-side in your browser. When you select a file, its bytes are read by JavaScript in the current tab and are never transmitted over the network. Closing the tab discards the file.

Because files never leave your device, we cannot access, store, recover or audit the documents you process — and you should keep your own copies of anything important.

4. Output quality and your responsibility

Conversions, compression and extraction tools are provided “as is”. Results should be reviewed before use in official, legal or medical contexts. OCR can misread text, conversions can lose layout fidelity, and unusual or corrupted PDFs may fail.

You are responsible for verifying that any output you rely on is accurate and complete, and for complying with any rules that apply to the documents you process.

5. Availability and changes

The site and tools are provided without guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may add, change or remove tools, and we may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by the “Effective” date at the top of this page.

6. Intellectual property

The Paperly name, logo, site design and original text are owned by the site operator. The open-source PDF libraries used for processing are governed by their own licenses. Documents you process remain yours.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paperly is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or from processed output. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
