Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Paperly is designed to store as little as possible. This page describes exactly what is stored in your browser when you use the site.

What we do not use

Paperly does not set advertising cookies, social tracking pixels or third-party marketing cookies. We do not use cross-site tracking, and we do not sell or share data with advertisers.

What the site may store

StoragePurposeContains
In-memory (current tab)Holding the file you are processingThe file bytes, discarded when the tab closes
Anonymous usage events (if analytics enabled)Understanding which tools are usedTool name and outcome only — never file contents or names
Browser preferences (if any)Remembering choices like themePreference values only
We never receive or store your documents. If you clear your browser storage, nothing about your file history exists to remove — because nothing is saved.

Consent

The only thing Paperly stores across visits is an anonymous record of which tools you use (tool name and outcome only — never file bytes or names), written to your browser's localStorage. On your first visit a small banner explains this and asks whether you want to allow or block that storage. Your choice is remembered in localStorage, and blocking analytics disables the anonymous event record entirely.

Because no advertising or tracking cookies exist, there is nothing else to consent to: the banner is the complete list of what the site may store.

How this compares to typical cookie policies

Most PDF sites rely on advertising networks and analytics cookies that follow you across the web. Paperly deliberately uses none of those, which is why this policy is short: the list of what we do not store is the whole story. The only optional storage is the anonymous tool-usage record, and you control it with one click in the consent banner.
